Artist's Statement
I am a fine art photographer with an interest in mythologies and the sublime. My work deals with how meaning is made from the vast quantities of time and space, with consideration to the history of photography as a way of exploring subjects through the medium.
In my degree show at the Glasgow School of Art, titled 'Ὄρχις' (Órkhis), I looked at how divergent attitudes towards the body, and experiences around it from the past, are embedded in cultural memory and exist today in our language and myths. The subjects the show pay particular attention to how often violent anxieties involving genitals and castration are associated with beauty, often in forms that are divinely inspired.
My work around radio looks at radio waves as part of the landscape as they are everpresent in the ether. As part of this work I have photographed parts of the landscape where radio propagates and the sites it is transmitted from. I have also experimented with building radio receivers to record the sound they produce, such as a very low frequency receiver that I have exhibited live and also used in the field to record sound pieces.
I have held three solo exhibitions and one made collaboratively. I graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2026 where I have shown my work as part of several group exhibitions and I have had my sound art broadcast on the radio as part of the Radiophrenia festival.
